Abstract: From the point view of the balance between traffic demand and supply of urban road network, the mechanism of urban traffic problem is discussed. After the overview of the researches on travel demand management, operation management, and emergency management of urban transportation system, the research trends are pointed out, concerning such issues as the integration of multiple traffic measures, social-psychological behaviors of drivers, the evaluation and simulation of transportation policies, and, the application of transportation big data.
