Abstract:
The job of security-checking staff in a subway is a typical visual search task. Their performance directly affects passengers’ safety. Focusing on the environment of subway security-checking task, this work investigates and assesses the effects of auditory and environmentally visual disturbances on staffs’ performance and attention by using questionnaire. Their satisfaction about the micro-climate as well as the improvement measures is also evaluated. Results reveal that personal privacy, conversation, workplace enclosure, and micro-climate have a significant influence on a staff. To enclose the workstation with transparent glass to some degree is the most feasible measure.
