Correction Policy for Published Articles

    To ensure the scientific accuracy and integrity of the articles published in Industrial Engineering Journal (IEJ) and to uphold the credibility and authority of academic publishing, we have established this correction policy. This policy aims to standardize the process for addressing errors or clarifications in published articles (including those published online or in print), ensuring that readers have access to accurate information and providing authors with a clear correction process.

     

    I. Scope of Application

    This policy applies to all articles published in our journal, including but not limited to research papers, review articles, and short communications. Correction statements are applicable in the following situations:

    1. Factual Errors: Such as data errors, figure/table errors, citation errors, etc.

    2. Textual Errors: Such as spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, unclear expressions, etc.

    3. Ethical Issues: Such as incorrect authorship, undeclared conflicts of interest, etc.

    4. Other Situations Requiring Clarification: Such as supplementary information, corrections to research methods, etc.

     

    II. Types of Correction Statements

    Based on the nature and severity of the error, correction statements are categorized as follows:

    1. Corrigendum: Initiated by the author to correct errors or provide important supplementary information in the article.

    2. Erratum: Initiated by the editorial office to correct errors introduced during the editing or typesetting process.

    3. Clarification: Used to provide further explanation or clarification of the article's content.

    4. Retraction: When an article involves serious academic misconduct or its scientific integrity cannot be guaranteed, the editorial office reserves the right to retract the article.

     

    III. Correction Statement Process

    1. Submission of Correction Requests

    1) Author-Initiated: If authors identify errors in their article, they should submit a correction request via email to the editorial office, detailing the errors and proposed corrections.

    2) Reader Feedback: If readers identify errors in an article, they can submit correction suggestions through the feedback channels provided by the editorial office (e.g., email, online feedback).

    3) Editorial Office Discovery: If the editorial office identifies errors during routine review or peer review processes, it will proactively contact the authors for corrections.

    2. Review and Evaluation

    1) Upon receiving a correction request, the editorial office will conduct a preliminary review within 5 working days and determine whether further investigation is needed.

    2) For correction requests involving academic misconduct, the editorial office will initiate a formal investigation and may involve external experts for evaluation.

    3. Publication of Correction Statements

    1) Corrigendum: After confirmation by the editorial office, the author must submit the corrected manuscript and a correction statement. The correction statement will be publicly posted on the journal's official website.

    2) Erratum: Written and published by the editorial office, detailing the errors and corrective measures.

    3) Clarification: Written and published by the editorial office to provide further explanation of the article's content.

    4) Retraction: After confirming serious issues with the article, the editorial office will issue a retraction statement and clearly mark it on the journal's official website.

     

    IV. Content, Publication, and Archiving of Correction Statements 

    Correction statements should include the following:

    1. Article title, author information, DOI number, and the link to the original article.

    2. Detailed description of the error.

    3. Corrected accurate information.

    4. Date of publication of the correction statement.

    Correction statements will be publicly posted on the journal's official website (https://iej.gdut.edu.cn) to ensure readers can easily access the corrected information. Correction statements will be permanently archived and updated in relevant databases to maintain the integrity of academic records.

     

    V. Retraction Policy

    The editorial office will consider retraction in the following situations:

    1. Academic Misconduct: Such as plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, etc.

    2. Unverifiable Research Results: Such as non-reproducible experimental data.

    3. Authorship Disputes: Such as unauthorized use of others' work.

    4. Other Serious Breaches of Academic Integrity.

    Retraction statements will clearly state the reasons for retraction and will be marked on the journal's official website (https://iej.gdut.edu.cn) and in relevant databases.
