Abstract:

Social network games, nested on the platform of social networking sites, have become a new favorite of college students. And college students′ Internet addiction has been of considerable interest to the academia in recent years. The reasons why college students participate in social network games are explored. A number of questionnaires are distributed through the Internet to collect information which needs to convert to data format and import into Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA). And the decision tree model is obtained via the J48 decision tree algorithm. The results of the experiment indicate that college students′ social network game behavior is mainly related to family environment, living conditions and social networking sites activeness. The integrity and happiness degree of a family, together with college students′ attitude towards life and social networking sites activeness, are all important causes in social network game behavior. In addition, college students should be provided with effective strategies to prevent Internet game addiction because the reason of the participation is partly coincident with that of the Internet addiction of college students.
