Abstract: To explore the rationality and weakness of technique of human error rate prediction (THERP), an E-prime experimental method was applied to analyze human error probability in the refrigerant filling process, by THERP with an example of the truck refrigerant filling process. It was found that the experiment results were basically in coincidence with the result of THERP, which illustrated the rationality of THERP. The weakness of THERP was that it neglected the cognitive process of the operation behavior while calculating human errors.

Key words: human error, technique of human error rate prediction (THERP), cognition, refrigerant filling process
