An Optimization Design Method for APP User Experience of the Elderly Based on Genetic Algorithm

Abstract: In order to improve the user experience (UX) of the smartphone application (APP) for the elderly, an optimization design method for APP UX of the elderly based on genetic algorithms is proposed. Firstly, literature research and focus group are employed to determine the design patterns of the elderly APP, and APP experimental samples are designed on the basis of the orthogonal design principles. Subsequently, a UX evaluation system is established, and analytic hierarchy process is used to determine the weights of UX evaluation criteria. After that, quantitative relationship between APP design patterns and users experience is built by using quantification theory type 1. Finally, genetic algorithm is adopted to obtain an optimal design solution. The mobile pay APP for the elderly is used as a case study, and the results suggest that the proposed method can effectively optimize the design for UX of the elderly APP.
